Final cohort of USA Football Master Trainers develop their practical teaching skills
March 28, 2015
The final cohort of Master Trainers who will be delivering USA Football's Player Safety Coach (PSC) clinic this Summer were in Indianapolis this weekend (March 21/ 22) to explore how to deliver excellent PSC clinics. MTs have significant football technical expertise and include ex-NFL players, current and ex-college coaches, youth and high school including many state championship winning coaches.
Sarah and the talented team of Football Development staff (Andy Ryland, Mike Haynes, Caitlin Hanley and Zak Zumbiel) under the direction of Nick Inzerello are working with the team of Master Trainers to ensure they know the content of the programme, can deliver excellent presentations in the classroom and critically can teach heads-up tackling and blocking in a practical context.
Sunday morning gave MTs the opportunity to practice how to teach heads-up tackling and blocking to PSC coaches in an on-field setting. In this image Coach John Roderique of Webb City, Mo., practices his teaching skills with fellow MTS. Roderique ranks fourth in the nation among high school coaches for victories in the past 10 years. His Cardinals have won 128 times since 2003, with five of Roderique’s eight state titles coming during that time.
A local film crew from Indianapolis Channel 13 (WTHR.com) an NBC affiliate were there to record the action and Mike Haynes USA Football's Heads-up programme manager spoke with the crew.
