The Uganda Rowing Federation (URF) funded by FISA (the international rowing federation) and Olympic Solidarity have committed to develop their national sport system (DNSS).
The DNSS project, part of a global endeavour inspired by FISA, enabled the URF to undertake a sports performance review and strategic planning workshop. Working in partnership with Rachel Davis, the FISA technical expert for the Africas, e.t.c were delighted to design and lead the performance review and strategic planning exercise.
Conducted in July in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, Sarah and Rachel led a 3-day workshop alongside the recently convened Uganda Rowing Technical Advisory Board. A profile project, the workshop was opened and the Board welcomed by the vice president of the National Olympic Committee. The Board's role will be critical in terms of checking, challenging, counselling and activating key concepts in the first two years of this project.
Having reflected on and re-purposed their vision, mission and values the Board have created strategic and operational plans designed to 'cause positive change for rowing'.
We are honored and humbled to be involved in a unique and innovative project working with such inspirational people.
