The role of the Coach Developer is critical in providing coaches with access to high quality learning and development opportunities. Depending upon the context within which Coach Developers work their roles include but are not limited to, designing coach education programs, facilitating classroom and practically based learning opportunities, evaluating coaching knowledge and performance, and mentoring coaches.
Alongside many other sports in the USA including Tennis, Soccer, Hockey and Swimming, USA Weightlifting (USAW) offer coach education programs from beginner coach to master coach and recognize that Coach Developers have a critical role to play.
Having redesigned their Level 2 Coach Education program to ensure it adopts a more learner-centered approach, USAW have recognized the need to provide additional training and support for their Coach Instructor workforce to ensure they can lead these high-quality coach programs. e.t.c coaching consultants are delighted to partner with USAW to provide Instructors or rather Coach Developers with the knowledge and skills required to undertake this role unbelievably well.
Typically our Coach Developer programs adopt a blended approach with the bulk of learning facilitated in person. The presence and persistence of COVID 19 has forced us to think differently about how we do what we do so that we can continue to support clients without comprising the quality or integrity of our programming.
We are proud to partner with USAW and launch our virtual Coach Developer Course. Adopting a linear format to be delivered over the next 6 months, we have created a blended approach using on-line courses hosted on our on-line learning platform, self-directed study and a series interactive webinars. The course is structured into three discrete Modules focusing on:
Reflective Practice
Coach Learning Principles
Facilitating Coach Learning
Our goal is to ensure USAW Coach Developer's can effectively transition their knowledge and skills into practice and lead USAW Level 2 Coach Education programs in person. Why? because #qualitycoachingmatters #bettercoachesbetterathletes
