Maximizing Pickleball Partnerships: The Key to Sticky Coach Learning

Writer: Sarah McQuadeSarah McQuade

Thank you, Professional Pickleball Registry - PPR and Sarah Ansboury, for the opportunity to help you explore new ways to support #CoachDevelopers to facilitate even more engaging learning experiences for coaches!

When designing coach learning programs, we must prioritize how adults—and therefore coaches—learn best.

A huge shoutout to Penny Crisfield for the LEARNS framework, an invaluable tool for designing 'sticky' learning experiences:

🎯 Learner-centered – Use diverse strategies that enable all coaches to learn at their own pace and in their own way.

🌱 Environment – Create a positive, supportive space—both physically and emotionally—for coaches to learn in.

🎭 Actively Involve – Coaches learn better by doing, observing, and exploring—not just by being told what to do.

🔄 Reflect-Connect-Apply – Help coaches reflect on their learning, connect it with past and future experiences, and apply insights to their own coaching environment.

💡 New learning – Build on existing knowledge and skills by offering fresh perspectives and ways of thinking to enhance coaching practice.

🚀 Stretch – Appropriately challenge coaches to foster confidence and competence and enhance coaching effectiveness.

At e.t.c we are beyond excited to help Professional Pickleball Registry - PPR design best-in-class breed learning programs that empower Coach Developers to make learning stick!
