PTR Coach Developers Focus on Connecting with Coaches

Writer: Sarah McQuadeSarah McQuade

The Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) has always been committed to elevating coaching, and we have been proud to partner with them in designing and delivering Coach Developer Training since 2020.

This past weekend, ahead of the PTR International Rackets Conference in Tampa, we had the privilege of leading a workshop for new Coach Developers (CDs)—where our focus wasn’t just on learning but on connection.

Inspired by Nick Shackleton-Jones' work, we explored how Coach Developers can create an experience that truly connects with coaches—because when coaches feel connected, their learning gains momentum.

Using postcards as a tool for reflection, we explored how we want the coach development experience to make coaches feel and the key behaviors CDs need to emphasize to foster stronger connections. After all, meaningful learning doesn’t happen in isolation—it thrives in relationships, shared experiences, and moments of real engagement.

We’re excited to continue supporting Coach Developers as they refine their craft and evolve their approach. And we’re equally committed to helping PTR and the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) create high-quality learning experiences that makes it more engaging, more impactful, and ultimately, more connected.

Because when we get connection right, learning sticks—and great coaching follows.
