PTR International Symposium heads West to Indian Wells, CA

Traditionally hosted by the PTR at Hilton Head in February, this years International Symposium was Covid-delayed and re-situated to the stunning Indian Wells, CA from November 9 - 11, 2022.

e.t.c coaching consultants (Sarah McQuade and Linda Low) were thrilled to be invited to facilitate two workshops, one within the Leadership Conference and the other in Coaching.

The Leadership workshop, simply titled 'Being a Better Leader' was designed to help delegates explore their leadership role and the environment within which it is applied, and their values and philosophy for leadership. A deeper dive into some of the leadership behaviors associated with the following was then conducted:

  • Developing self

  • Empowering others

  • Driving performance

The real challenge set for delegates was to review and confirm which one or two of those behaviors they would choose to focus on and develop in order to Become a Better, or Even Better Leader.

The second workshop, shared with industry leading influencers and coaches, focused not on what coaches teach or coach but how they help players learn. The aim of the session was to explore the concepts of teaching and learning by using delegates own experiences and by learning on different reference points including Tannenbaum's Leadership Continuum and Downey's Push-Pull Coaching Strategies.

The real intent was to challenge delegates to think about how effectively they apply the various push pull coaching strategies in their own environment as either a Coach, Coach Developer or Leader. No doubt this triggered some thinking for delegates about how they do what they do and what they could do differently or better to help players learn and develop as performers and critically as people.

A final thank you and shout out to PTR staff for their hard work, passion and enthusiasm to deliver an amazing event.
